Head of Revenue and Benefits
Rate: £550.00 per day (Umbrella) Term: 12 weeks Hours per week: 37 Location: Office attendance is expected, but typically once per week
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Head of Revenue and Benefits to lead a high-performing, statutory Revenues and Benefits function. The role encompasses Council Tax, Business Rates, Housing Benefits, Local Council Tax Support, and the Council’s Corporate Fraud Team.
The successful candidate will focus on collection funds, policy development, and service transformation, acting as the Council’s lead expert on Revenues and Benefits legislation. They will advise senior leadership, drive performance, compliance, and financial stability across a complex and large service.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading a senior revenue and benefits team
- Developing policies and advising on legislative changes
- Driving performance improvements and financial stability
- Overseeing fraud prevention and collections strategies
- Acting as the Council’s expert on legal and financial compliance
Requirements

- A proven track record at senior leadership level within a Revenues & Benefits service
- Deep understanding of how to effectively apply digital tools in revenue operations
- Strong communication, negotiation, and teamwork skills, with an outcome-driven mindset
