Interim Indirect Tax Senior Manager

Interim Indirect Tax Senior Manager (6-Month Fixed-Term Contract)

We are partnering with a leading international energy business to appoint an Interim Indirect Tax Senior Manager on a 6-month fixed-term contract. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced VAT professional to join a high-performing tax team and play a key role in supporting complex business operations, major projects, and tax transformation initiatives.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of VAT, you will provide technical indirect tax support across a diverse and evolving business. Working closely with commercial, finance, and operational stakeholders, you will help manage VAT risk, support strategic projects, and ensure the business remains compliant in a complex regulatory environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing VAT advice across a range of business activities, projects, and transactions
  • Supporting indirect tax aspects of major infrastructure, energy, and transformation programmes
  • Reviewing and managing VAT risks and opportunities across the organisation
  • Advising on new business propositions and commercial initiatives
  • Supporting VAT compliance, governance, and control processes
  • Working closely with finance, legal, and operational teams to deliver practical tax solutions
  • Assisting with HMRC enquiries and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships
  • Supporting process improvement, automation, and tax technology initiatives
  • Mentoring and developing junior members of the indirect tax team

About You

We are looking for a technically strong and commercially focused indirect tax professional who can quickly establish credibility and add value in a fast-paced environment.

Experience and skills required:

  • Strong UK VAT and indirect tax experience
  • A proven track record within large or complex organisations
  • Experience advising on business projects, transactions, and operational VAT matters
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • A pragmatic and commercial approach to problem-solving
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a changing environment
