This is a high-impact leadership assignment offering a competitive day rate, with responsibility for inventory strategy, stock optimisation and operational performance across a complex, multi-site national operation.
Working closely with stakeholders across procurement, supply chain, operations, construction, finance and IT, you will play a key role in balancing stock availability, cost control and service performance. A key part of the assignment will involve analysing inventory performance, optimising re-order points and improving working capital efficiency while maintaining service levels.
In addition, you will oversee inventory governance and compliance activity, coordinating audits, implementing stock controls and leading the annual stock take process. You will also manage supplier inventory arrangements, monitor stock performance across sites and subcontractors, and provide strategic insight to senior management through reporting and recommendations.
Alongside operational ownership, you will lead and support the inventory team, driving accountability, improving processes and delivering measurable improvements across the national operation.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this interim role, you will have significant inventory management experience gained within a global organisation or complex multi-site environment. Previous responsibility for national or multi-site inventory operations is essential, along with strong knowledge of supply chain planning, stock control and inventory optimisation.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
