Legal Operations Manager (12-Month Contract)
Location: London | Hybrid
Purpose of the Role
We are seeking an experienced Legal Operations Manager to provide operational support to our in-house client, a UK-based legal team for a 12-month assignment. The role will enable the Group Legal Operations Manager to focus on global strategic initiatives while ensuring smooth day-to-day legal operations, effective processes, and compliance with internal policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Onboarding & Offboarding: Collaborate with Team Assistants to coordinate onboarding and offboarding of legal team members, including system updates, training delivery, and knowledge capture.
- Reporting: Prepare local reports covering legal spend, budget variances, and risk indicators; maintain accurate data within matter management and eBilling systems.
- Process Improvement: Assess existing processes and identify opportunities for optimisation, simplification, and clearer process definition to improve efficiency, agility, and value delivery.
- Communications: Draft clear and concise communications from the Legal Operations team to the wider legal team covering key topics, policy updates, and process changes.
- Matter Management Support: Ensure system hygiene and perform regular data quality checks to maintain accurate metadata.
- Invoice & PO Management: Project manage and resolve invoicing queries; support lawyers with timely PO creation and updates; monitor invoice processing, rate card adherence, and compliance with billing guidelines.
- Training & Guidance: Provide guidance and training on legal tools, systems, and operational processes.
- Coordination: Organise team meetings and knowledge-sharing sessions.
- Projects: Support additional initiatives and projects aligned with priorities set by the Legal Leadership team.

Candidate Profile
- Proactive and solution-oriented, with the ability to anticipate issues and recommend improvements.
- Highly organised and detail-focused, capable of managing multiple priorities.
- Strong communicator, confident drafting updates and liaising with a range of stakeholders.
- Tech-savvy, with experience using legal technology platforms such as eBilling and matter management systems.
- Collaborative and enthusiastic, working effectively with lawyers, finance teams, and external vendors.

Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in legal operations or a similar professional services environment.
- Strong project management and process improvement capability.
- Experience with invoicing, purchase order processes, and vendor management.
- Confident in reporting and data analysis.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
