Interim Management Accountant
Salary: £250–£300 (inside IR35) Location: Derby – Hybrid (3 days on-site) Contract: Temp-to-perm (approx. 3 months temporary)
Gleeson are delighted to be working with a growing organisation, currently undergoing transformation with a turnover of circa £60m. They are seeking an experienced Interim Management Accountant with strong expertise in General Ledger accounting to support their finance function on a temp-to-perm basis.
This is a hands-on role requiring a proactive individual with a master of:
- Accounts preparation and General Ledger experience
- Attention to detail
- Collaborative working across multiple finance teams
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review monthly management accounts, including:
- Taking ownership of balance sheet reconciliations
- Ensuring accuracy in accruals, prepayments, and journals
- Ensuring an accurate and timely month-end close
- Analyse P&L performance, investigating variances and providing meaningful financial insights to:
- Finance and non-finance stakeholders
- Supporting forecasting and budgeting activities in partnership with the FP&A team and budget holders
- Partner with Accounts Payable and cash teams to:
- Maintain strong General Ledger controls
- Oversee payment runs
- Support treasury activities
- Ensure transactions are precisely coded and processed
- Support external audits, VAT returns, and statutory reporting requirements, by:
- Liaising with external advisors
- Providing required information as needed
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and controls, contributing to the smooth operation of a busy multi-entity finance function.

About You
- Qualified accountant (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA), or qualified by experience
- Strong background in Management Accounting and General Ledger experience must be present
- In-depth understanding of:
- Balance sheet reconciliations
- Month-end close processes
- Strong financial controls (preferably in an organisation with £50m–£75m turnover)
- Experience in:
- Audit processes
- VAT reporting
- Collaborating with transactional finance teams and managing FP&A
- Strong systems knowledge, with:
- Ideal (preferred) experience in Dynamics
- Exposure to Oracle, SAP, Workday, or R3 will be considered
- Personality & attributes:
- Proactive and hands-on
- Highly organised and comfortable working across multiple stakeholders
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment
- This role will suit a practical and commercially aware Management Accountant with GL knowledge who enjoys multidisciplinary collaboration and strong reporting processes.

Key Requirements
- Must hold full right to work in the UK (no sponsorship required)
- Must live within reasonable commuting distance of Derby to accommodate 3 days on-site (non-negotiable)
