Interim Marketing Director
Salary: £100,000 for a four-day week - candidates that go on the payroll will also be entitled to pension, holiday, and the reimbursement of business expenses
Location: This role is based in the East Midlands, it's a four-day week contract, with three days a week in the office.
Duration of the contract: 6 months
The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Interim Marketing Director to assess, strengthen and shape the marketing strategy and then deliver at a pace.
This is a strategic leadership opportunity focused on understanding what the business needs from marketing in the future, strengthening key areas of capability, and ensuring marketing is positioned to support sustainable growth.
At its heart, this is a positive change and transformation role, focused on both strategy and delivery. We're looking for an experienced leader who can take a commercial view of the current function: brand, strategy, digital, product marketing, structure, AI and capability and provide the direction, insight and recommendations that ensure marketing is equipped to support the company's ambitions.
We'd love to hear from senior marketing leaders with a strong strategic track record, ideally within B2B or B2B2C environments where brand, product, customer experience and commercial performance are closely connected.
Key Responsibilities
- Marketing strategy - assess the commercial effectiveness of the current approach and ensure marketing supports sustainable growth, strengthening demand generation, customer engagement and market penetration, with investment aligned to business priorities and measurable commercial value
- Brand - build brand and market positioning to support the company's future ambitions and competitive advantage, improving consistency, relevance, differentiation and long-term brand strength
- Customer insight - champion a customer-led approach, ensuring decisions are informed by customer needs, behaviours, market trends and competitive dynamics
- Digital capability - drive marketing performance to include digital platforms, content and customer journeys, improving ROI through data, AI, insight and customer feedback
- Product marketing - update the approach to product marketing and market activation, ensuring products are effectively positioned
- Marketing structure - review the operating model, processes & ways of working, technology and external partnerships to ensure effective support for the company's growth plans
- Leadership - acting as a positive agent for change, provide leadership, direction, focus and accountability while influencing strategic decision-making through customer insight, market understanding and commercial awareness

Who You Are
You're an experienced, commercial marketing leader and a natural change agent; decisive, credible and skilled at getting buy-in across the business. You want to be part of a winning team, you lead with no ego, and you're at your best working collaboratively to make an impact. You're comfortable operating at board level, providing insight, challenge and recommendations that shape strategic decisions.
Your Key Skills and Experience
- Proven success in an interim senior marketing leadership role, ideally within a B2B or B2B2C environment where brand, product, customer experience and commercial performance are closely connected
- A strong track record in change and transformation - reviewing, developing and strengthening marketing functions, including structure, capability, operating models, processes and external partnerships
- Strong track record of using marketing to support business growth through brand development, customer engagement, demand generation, market positioning and commercial performance
- Strong digital capability, including website development, content strategy, lead generation, user experience and digital performance
- Proven delivery of digital transformation initiatives, including agency selection, partner management and implementation oversight
- Strong understanding of product marketing and customer engagement strategies
- Commercially astute, with a clear understanding of how marketing contributes to long-term business performance
- Data and insight led, using customer, market and performance information to evaluate effectiveness and shape priorities
- Proven ability to lead teams, build capability and create clarity, accountability and focus
- A clear and credible communicator, able to translate complex information into practical recommendations and direction
