Interim Multi-Skilled Mechanical & Electrical Maintenance Engineer

Location: Hall Green, Birmingham (with travel to Droitwich as required)

Salary: Up to £19.23 per hour (depending on experience)

Job Type: Interim

We are recruiting for an experienced Interim Multi-Skilled Mechanical & Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join a busy manufacturing business. This is a hands-on role responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of production machinery and plant equipment across two sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on manufacturing machinery and equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults, including motors, drives, pumps, gearboxes, hydraulics, pneumatics, and control panels.
  • Safely isolate electrical and mechanical systems in accordance with Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) procedures.
  • Assist with the installation, testing, and commissioning of new equipment.
  • Record maintenance activities accurately using the CMMS system.
  • Work closely with production teams to minimise downtime and maximise machine availability.
  • Supervise external contractors when required.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and operational efficiency.

About You

  • NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, BTEC or equivalent in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience working as a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer within a manufacturing, production, or industrial environment.
  • Strong electrical fault-finding skills, including PLCs, relays, and three-phase systems.
  • Sound mechanical knowledge covering hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, gearboxes, and conveyors.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and engineering drawings.
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations is advantageous.
  • Flexible approach to overtime and out-of-hours support when required.

What's on Offer

  • Monday to Friday, 7:00am – 4:00pm.
  • Interim opportunity with an immediate start.
  • Based primarily in Hall Green, Birmingham, with occasional travel to Droitwich.
