Position
Job Title: Project Management Office Lead - Interim
Department: Insurance
Line Manager: Chief Insurance Officer
Location: London / 2 days in office
Contract Length: 3-6 Months
Note: This role is Inside IR35.
To provide immediate, hands-on project control across all live Insurance projects, ensuring delivery is visible, measurable and actively managed.
This role is not a strategic PMO position. It is a short-term stabilisation role, focused on bringing discipline, clarity and control to delivery during a period of team change and heightened delivery risk.

The PMO Lead will work directly with Project Managers and delivery teams to:
- Establish clear project status (RAG) across all work
- Ensure accurate reporting, risk visibility and escalation
- Bring practical structure to live delivery using Azure DevOps
A hands-on interim PMO Lead to bring immediate control, visibility and discipline to live projects — ensuring delivery is understood and managed in real time.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
Immediate Delivery Control
- Conduct a rapid review of all live projects to establish current status, priorities and delivery risks.
- Define RAG status across the full portfolio within the first 2–4 weeks.
- Identify projects at risk and agree clear corrective actions with the relevant Project Managers and delivery teams.
Reporting and Visibility
- Implement a simple, consistent weekly reporting cadence.
- Provide the CIO with a single, trusted view of portfolio status.
- Ensure reporting clearly aligns plans, progress, risks and financial position.
Project Discipline — Azure DevOps Focus
- Ensure all projects are structured consistently in Azure DevOps.
- Drive disciplined use of backlogs, iterations, ownership and tracking.
- Use Azure DevOps to create practical visibility across live delivery activity.

Risk and Issue Management
- Implement a standard RAID approach across all projects.
- Ensure risks and issues are identified early, made visible and actively managed.
- Escalate issues promptly with clear recommendations and proposed next steps.
Stabilisation of At-Risk Projects
- Work directly with Project Managers to reset plans, address delivery gaps and remove blockers.
- Support prioritisation of resources where required to stabilise delivery.
- Bring immediate structure and focus to projects requiring urgent intervention.
Skills, Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
- Strong experience as a PMO Lead or Senior Project Manager
- Proven track record of:
- Stabilising delivery in-flight
- Working in messy / fast-moving environments
- Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps
Comfortable:
- Challenging PMs
- Driving Accountability
- Working without perfect structure
- Strong stakeholder management – able to hold people accountable with clarity and without conflict
Hands-on approach: this role requires doing, not just directing
- Experience managing delivery across multiple concurrent customer projects
