Interim Procurement Specialist

Your New Role: Commercial & Procurement Specialist
As a Commercial & Procurement Specialist, you will lead and support end-to-end sourcing, supplier management, and contract delivery across a varied and commercially diverse portfolio. Key responsibilities include:
- Full sourcing and tendering activity aligned with PA23 (Public Contracts Regulations 2015)
- Management of both large, high-value contracts and small, fast-turn procurement exercises
- Supporting commercial operations in reliability-critical, high-performance environments
- Supplier performance oversight, service delivery, KPI tracking, and risk mitigation
- CP&F/CPNS system management for procurement processes, financial controls, and commercial governance
- Working across defence-related buying areas, including:
- Goods and services
- Education/training services
- Specialist and generalist equipment
- Support services
- Medical provision
- Ensuring commercial alignment with:
- Security requirements
- Defence-specific compliance frameworks
- Audit standards
- Hands-on role requiring ownership, commercial confidence, and ability to support time-critical or operational stakeholders

Requirements for Success
To excel in this position, you must demonstrate:
✔ Recent, hands-on sourcing experience (last 1–3 years), with expertise in:
- Leading tenders
- Full commercial processes ✔ Defence, secure operations, or regulated-sector experience, including:
- Deep understanding of governance, pace, and assurance levels
- Demonstrable operational resilience skills ✔ Confident buying across multiple defence-aligned categories, including:
- Relevant experience in critical key areas ✔ Ability to manage:
- High-value strategic procurements
- Smaller, urgent operational needs ✔ Security Clearance (SC) – mandatory; candidates without an active clearance will not be considered ✔ Strong stakeholder engagement, enabling you to work effectively with:
- Engineers
- Operational teams
- Project delivery specialists
- Senior decision-makers
