Interim Product Lawyer

At SJP, we partner with some of the world's most innovative businesses - from high-growth scale-ups to established global organisations - helping them secure outstanding interim legal talent when it matters most.

As demand for product lawyers continues to grow, we're looking to deepen our network of exceptional interim lawyers ahead of a number of anticipated mandates across the technology market.

Whether you're actively exploring your next assignment or simply open to hearing about the right opportunity, we'd love to connect.

Who We're Looking For

We're keen to speak with product lawyers who have experience advising on some or all of the following:

  • Product counselling and strategic product advice
  • Partnering with product, engineering and go-to-market teams
  • Launching products across multiple jurisdictions
  • Consumer, digital and platform regulation
  • AI and emerging technology issues
  • Privacy and data protection considerations within product development
  • Commercial contracting and strategic partnerships
  • Building scalable legal processes and product guidance

Typically, we're instructed on mandates requiring lawyers with 4+ years' PQE, gained either in-house or through significant exposure to product teams in private practice.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Many of our interim lawyers work with us repeatedly throughout their careers. Some are seeking back-to-back assignments; others value the flexibility to step in and out of the market as their priorities evolve. We support both.

Working with SJP means:

  • Access to interim mandates across a diverse portfolio of clients and sectors
  • Introductions to opportunities that are often not widely advertised
  • Honest market insight and transparent conversations around rates and expectations
  • A relationship-led approach focused on long-term partnerships rather than one-off placements
  • A team that actively advocates for you throughout the recruitment process and beyond
  • The flexibility to shape an interim career that works for you

If you're an interim product lawyer considering your next move - or would simply like to become part of our network ahead of future opportunities - we'd be delighted to hear from you.

📧 Please send your CV to interims@thesjp.co.uk for a confidential conversation.

💡 We also offer a generous referral bonus for successful introductions.
