Interim Regulatory Counsel – Global Payments Firm
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Regulatory Counsel to join the legal team of a Global Payments business operating within a highly regulated and fast-evolving sector.
Working as part of a collaborative and high-performing legal function, you'll advise on complex regulatory issues affecting services across multiple European jurisdictions.
This role offers exposure to cutting-edge technology, evolving regulation and cross-border legal challenges, partnering closely with commercial, compliance, regulatory and public policy teams.
This is an excellent opportunity for a lawyer looking to move into (or further develop) an in-house regulatory role within a market-leading international organisation.
The Role
You will provide pragmatic, commercially focused regulatory legal advice to support the business' strategic objectives and ongoing product development across Europe.
Working closely with a broad range of internal stakeholders, you'll:
- Advise on new and emerging regulatory developments
- Help shape legal strategy
- Support the delivery of innovative products within an increasingly regulated environment

The position offers significant international exposure, working alongside legal colleagues and business teams across multiple jurisdictions.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing day-to-day regulatory legal advice to business stakeholders
- Advising on UK and EU regulatory developments and their impact on the business
- Supporting public policy and government engagement initiatives from a legal perspective
- Identifying emerging legal and regulatory risks and delivering practical commercial solutions
- Managing relationships with external counsel where specialist advice is required
- Delivering legal training and regulatory updates to business stakeholders
- Supporting legal process improvements and helping drive operational efficiencies across the legal function
About You
We're keen to speak with lawyers who have:
- Approximately 3+ years PQE
- Experience advising on regulatory matters within a regulated industry, such as:
- Financial services
- Payments
- Fintech
- Telecommunications
- Utilities
- Another regulated sector
- Strong knowledge of the UK and/or EU regulatory landscape
- Training and experience gained within a leading law firm and/or a recognised in-house legal team
- Excellent drafting, stakeholder management, and communication skills
- A commercial, solutions-focused approach to legal advice
- Experience working with cross-functional stakeholders in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
