Private Equity Portfolio Company – Healthcare
Location: UK / Europe (Hybrid) Contract: Interim (6–9 months initially) Day Rate: £1,500 per day (dependent on experience) Start Date: ASAP
The Opportunity
We are partnering with a mid-market private equity (PE)-backed healthcare business seeking an accomplished Interim Sales & Commercial Excellence Lead to accelerate growth and drive commercial performance across the organisation.
Reporting directly to the CEO and PE sponsors, this individual will lead a comprehensive review of the commercial engine, identifying opportunities to improve:
- Sales effectiveness
- Customer acquisition
- Pricing
- Account management
- Commercial processes
- Revenue growth
This is a highly visible value creation role, focused on delivering measurable EBITDA impact and supporting the business through a critical phase of growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct a rapid assessment of the existing commercial organisation, identifying opportunities to improve performance, productivity, and profitability.
- Develop and execute a Commercial Excellence roadmap aligned to the investment thesis and value creation plan.
- Improve sales effectiveness through enhanced processes, performance management, forecasting, and pipeline discipline.
- Review customer segmentation, pricing strategy, sales incentives, and go-to-market effectiveness.
- Optimise sales operations, CRM utilisation, reporting, and KPI frameworks.
- Support the development of key account management capabilities and strategic customer engagement.
- Identify opportunities for market expansion, cross-selling, and revenue acceleration.
- Partner closely with the CEO, CFO, and PE sponsors to track commercial initiatives and EBITDA impact.
- Coach and develop commercial leadership teams to create sustainable improvements.

Candidate Profile
We are seeking senior commercial leaders with:

- Demonstrated success in sales growth and commercial transformation in sectors including:
- Healthcare
- Life sciences
- Healthcare services
- Medtech
- Pharma services (adjacent sectors also considered)
- Previous experience within a Private Equity portfolio company.
- Proven experience leading:
- Commercial Excellence
- Sales Transformation
- Revenue Growth initiatives
- Strong grasp of pricing, go-to-market strategy, salesforce effectiveness, and revenue operations.
- Ability to balance strategic vision with hands-on execution in a high-pressure environment.
- Experience delivering quantifiable value creation outcomes tied to revenue and EBITDA improvement.
- Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with credibility at Board and investor levels.

Ideal Background
Preferred roles:
- Interim CRO (Chief Revenue Officer)
- Chief Commercial Officer
- Vice President (Sales)
- Commercial Excellence Director
- Revenue Transformation Leader
Advantageous experience:
- Exposure to PE-backed healthcare businesses (strategic advisory, M&A, or portfolio operations).
- Hybrid background combining consulting from firms such as McKinsey, Bain, BCG, Strategy&, OC&C, LEK, AlixPartners, or Kearney and industry leadership.
- Direct involvement in programmes including growth phases, turnarounds, transformations, or exit-readiness initiatives.
Success Measures
- Revenue acceleration against budget targets.
- Improved sales productivity and conversion rates.
- Enhanced pricing and margin performance.
- Strengthened forecasting accuracy and pipeline visibility.
- Delivery of tangible EBITDA improvements.
- Establishment of scalable commercial processes and capabilities.
