This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Interim Senior Accountant to join a public sector organisation in Manchester. The role involves managing key financial responsibilities while offering flexibility through hybrid working arrangements.
Client Details
This public sector organisation is based in Manchester and plays a vital role in serving the local community. As a medium-sized entity, it is known for its structured approach to governance and finance, ensuring compliance and effective resource management. It offers hybrid working - if you live locally then ideally 2 days a week on site, if you live further away then they can look at the role on a remote working basis.
Description
- Prepare accurate financial reports and statements in compliance with public sector regulations.
- Liaise with external audit
- Budget monitoring
- Producing forecasts
- Oversee reconciliations and ensure all accounts are up to date and accurate.
- Provide financial advice and support to internal stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and policies.
- Assist in year-end processes, including audit preparation and liaising with auditors.
- Analyse financial data to provide insights and recommendations for decision-making.
- Support the wider Accounting & Finance team with ad-hoc projects and tasks as needed.

Profile
A Successful Interim Senior Accountant Should Have
- A professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
- Previous experience in the public sector or a similar environment.
- Strong technical accounting skills, including knowledge of relevant standards.
- Excellent analytical abilities to interpret complex financial data.
- Effective communication skills to liaise with stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and meeting deadlines.

Job Offer
- A competitive daily rate of c. £450 PAYE, £500 Umbrella depending on experience.
- Hybrid working arrangements, with remote options available for candidates further away.
- A temporary role with a duration of approximately four months.
