Interim Senior Financial Accountant
Interim Senior Financial Accountant (Year-End Audit Support)
6 Month Contract | Central London (Hybrid) | Professional Services | £70,000–£80,000 + Benefits
Overview IN2 Consult is supporting a London-based professional services business in its search for an experienced Interim Senior Financial Accountant/Financial Controller to provide immediate cover during a period of significant change and activity within the finance function.
This is a hands-on contract role, requiring an individual who can:
- Quickly integrate into a fast-paced environment
- Take ownership of key financial processes
- Provide stability and leadership to the existing team
Role Responsibilities
- Lead the year-end audit process from start to finish, including:
- Owning the audit timeline
- Preparing supporting work-papers
- Serving as the primary point of contact for external auditors until sign-off
- Support the preparation of statutory accounts and associated disclosures, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and audit readiness
- Own the month-end close process, covering:
- Journals, accruals, prepayments
- Balance sheet reconciliations
- Produce timely management accounts, including:
- P&L analysis
- Balance sheet reviews
- Maintain daily financial accounting, ensuring:
- Accuracy
- Completeness
- Strong financial control
- Provide technical accounting guidance, including:
- Research into complex/non-routine transactions
- Documentation for clarity
- Support tax, VAT, and statutory filings, ensuring regulatory compliance
- Strengthen internal controls and continuously improve finance processes as the function scales
- Support multi-entity and multi-currency accounting, including:
- Intercompany reconciliations across UK and international entities
- Play a key role in:
- ERP implementation
- System improvements (data migration, testing, process optimisation)
- Support and mentor junior team members, aiding development of the wider finance function
- Assist with ad hoc financial reporting and strategic projects as needed

Required Experience
- Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent) with post-qualification experience in a relevant field
- Strong background in external audit practice, ideally with:
- Exposure to leading or owning audits
- Proven experience in:
- Preparing statutory financial statements
- Managing the year-end audit process
- Technical accounting expertise, including:
- Reconciliations
- VAT
- Financial reporting
- Experience in a multi-entity, multi-currency environment (highly desirable)
- Prior involvement in ERP implementation or system migration (desirable)
- Experience within a professional services environment
- Exceptional communication skills to:
- Explain financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders
- Mentor junior team members effectively
