About the Role

Our client is a high growth business undergoing significant change and needs help professionalising finance, specifically around financial accounting and monthly close.

They need an Interim Senior Financial Accountant to help them do this.

You will be responsible for:

  • Driving process improvement in the monthly financial close, supporting the team in reviewing transactions and preparation of the reporting pack.
  • Preparation of monthly and quarterly balance sheet reporting, ensuring appropriate presentation of balance sheet accounts.
  • Preparation of quarterly financial schedules for reporting including overseeing the upload of the schedules into the group reporting system.
  • Oversight and/or preparation of reconciliations of certain balance sheet accounts and preparation of detailed workpapers.
  • Support for the financial controller with the company’s external audits, responding to audit requests within areas of personal responsibility and ensuring that the team stays on track with the other requests.
  • Involvement in internal and industry related audits as required.
  • Support for the financial controller and transformation team with design and implementation of internal controls to address key financial reporting risks.
  • Creation and maintenance of detailed and straightforward process documentation to facilitate better understanding of key financial reporting areas and cross-training between team members.
  • User acceptance testing support transitioning systems to ensure information flow into finance is not impeded to allow month-end and BAU monthly tasks to proceed as normal.

  • Strong experience in driving change in the finance function, improving processes, etc., with clear examples of the improvement.
  • Strong understanding of the monthly close and reporting processes.
  • Examples of improvements across other areas such as transactional finance (AP/AR).
  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA).

The role is based in their office in Brighton 2-3 days/week.

6 month contract with an urgent start so candidates must be immediately available.

Day rate range TBC but likely to be inside IR35.
