Position

Job Title: Senior Project Manager - Interim

Department: Insurance

Line Manager: Chief Insurance Officer

Location: London / 2 days in office

Contract Length: 3-6 Months

Note: This role is Inside IR35.

Key Responsibilities

The role of Senior Project Manager is responsible for the successful and effective delivery of external and internal projects, with particular focus on delivery within timescales, budgets, and quality requirements. Taking functional requirements specifications through the development process to end user testing, installation, data conversion, and operational running while setting and maintain realistic client expectations.

The role is also expected to run one or more workstreams for a given Project Lead and/or Senior Project Manager.

You will operate as part of a PMO team, working in a hybrid model using either our London or Chelmsford offices on a regular basis.

You will also need to visit client sites on a regular basis, as well as engaging with them through the use of Microsoft Teams.

Project experience is essential, providing key support, or management of, a number of successful projects and be able to demonstrate an understanding of project lifecycle and governance in a complex software/cloud environment.

Project Management

  • Lead and manage end-to-end projects or workstreams, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and on budget. Following the Eurobase Project Lifecycle process.
  • Develop project plans, including milestones, tasks, timelines, and resource allocation.
  • Attends meetings / stand-ups. Understand the delivery process and governance, and apply this to projects, CRs, and work streams in support of Senior Project Managers.
  • Ensure project reporting meets with the defined Project Lifecycle reporting requirements.
  • Ensure budget position is understood and tracked accurately. Ensure that performance against budget for all project-related activities can be measured and where overruns occur, ensure that the reasons for this are clearly understood and can be communicated.
  • Carry out retrospectives / lessons learnt sessions recording the outcomes. Highlight lessons that should be considered for remedial work or positive lessons to take forward into future projects.

Requirements

Qualification, Skills, and Experience

Essential:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience of project support and management of software implementations in a structured, developmental & delivery environment.
  • A positive and proactive management style, with a growth mindset.
  • Excellent relationship building and communication skills.
  • A team player with high energy levels, with a results-based approach.
  • Proactive with proven initiative and ability to think on one’s feet.
  • Good communication abilities, written and verbal, including presentation skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

Desirable:

  • Bachelor’s degree or Master’s in technical / business-related field.
  • Experience working within a recognized project governance such as PRINCE2, ITIL.
  • Experience of delivering within the financial sector.
  • Experience working with external clients and managing their expectations.
  • Experience of data conversions/migrations.
  • Solid understanding and practitioner of recognized project governance processes such as PRINCE2, ITIL.
  • Awareness of the full software development life cycle.
  • Excellent team building and motivational skills.
