Interim Strategic Financial Planning and Analysis Manager

Strategic Financial Planning & Analysis Manager (Interim)

About the Role

Hays Senior Finance are partnering with a large, complex organisation within a highly regulated and evolving sector to recruit an experienced Strategic Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Manager on an interim 6-month contract.

This is a key leadership role within the finance function, supporting senior stakeholders and delivering high-quality financial insight to inform operational and strategic decision-making during a period of change. Operating across multiple high-budget business areas, the role offers an opportunity to make an immediate and meaningful impact. Hybrid working arrangements are on offer.

Your New Role

Reporting directly to the Finance Director, you will take full ownership of the FP&A function, including:

  • Leading the production of monthly management accounts and delivering detailed variance analysis to senior leadership
  • Overseeing the financial planning cycle, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling, ensuring accurate projections across all business areas
  • Providing expert financial advice on performance, risks, and opportunities, collaborating closely with senior stakeholders and budget holders
  • Maintaining capital accounting and fixed asset processes, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal controls
  • Partnering with the wide finance team to deliver reporting to executive leadership and external stakeholders
  • Identifying process improvements to enhance financial reporting

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
