Interim Technical Manager
Interim Technical Manager – Immediate Start
Location: Bolton
Rate: £400 per day
Contract: Interim
Start Date: Immediate
Available now? We’re looking for an experienced Technical Manager to step in and deliver immediate leadership across our technical function. You’ll work closely with the Managing Director, leading the team, driving product development, supporting manufacturing, ensuring compliance, and providing technical expertise across the wider business.
This is a hands-on, commercially focused role for those comfortable making decisions, solving problems, and delivering results from day one.
About the Business
We’re collaborating with an established manufacturing business seeking a Technical Manager to hit the ground running.
Ideal candidates will have a chemistry degree or equivalent (technical background preferred) from manufacturing, engineering, materials science, packaging, materials, or product development. Individuals with the drive to hit the ground running and expand leadership across the technical function are strongly encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Technical Department, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to the team.
- Drive new product development and continuous improvement in existing product ranges.
- Provide technical leadership across manufacturing, sales, and commercial teams.
- Manage technical projects, ensuring deadlines and commercial objectives are achieved efficiently.
- Support production, troubleshooting technical issues, and optimising manufacturing processes.
- Oversee product testing, validation, and certification.
- Ensure compliance of raw materials and finished products.
- Collaborate with suppliers and contract manufacturers to maintain quality standards.
- Lead technical investigations, solving engineering and heat transfer challenges.
- Support customer projects with technical expertise and product performance data.
- Manage the technical department budget, identifying savings and areas for improvement.
- Work with senior leadership to refine business strategy and guide future innovations.

You’ll be an immediate impact hire—quickly building credibility and driving results. We’re seeking:
- Extensive manufacturing/engineering** experience**, preferably in technical management.
- A track record as:
- Technical Manager
- Head of Technical
- Product Development Manager
- Technical Engineering Manager
- R&D Manager
- Senior Technical Specialist
