Job Description
Rutherford Cross are delighted to be exclusively partnered with our client to appoint a Transactional Finance Manager for a 9-month FTC with potential to be extended beyond.
Job Purpose
As the Transactional Finance Manager, you will lead and optimise the end-to-end transactional finance function during a period of business improvement and change. Reporting to the Head of Finance, this role will provide leadership across Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Credit Control, ensuring the delivery of an efficient, well-controlled and customer-focused service as well as ownership and control of the cash flow across the UK and Ireland group.
You will work closely with the Finance Transformation Manager, transactional finance team and key business stakeholders to strengthen processes, enhance controls and identify opportunities to leverage technology and automation to improve operational effectiveness.
Role & Responsibilities
Team Leadership
- Lead, coach and support the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Credit Control teams to deliver high-quality transactional finance services
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement
- Provide guidance and support to team members
- Build strong relationships across the finance function and wider business
Operational Excellence
- Ensure the efficient delivery of all transactional finance activities, maintaining high standards of accuracy and service and ensuring all activities are compliant with relevant accounting standards and legislative requirements
- Responsible for VAT compliance, ensuring bi-monthly and quarterly VAT returns are accurate, submitted on time and considered in cash flow forecasts
- Review existing workflows and operating practices, identifying and embedding opportunities to simplify and enhance processes
- Strengthen financial controls and governance across the transactional finance function
- Monitor and improve key performance indicators to drive service excellence

Cash And Working Capital Management
- Maintain accurate short and medium-term cash flow forecasts, drawing on insights from Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and wider business activities
- Work collaboratively with operational and finance stakeholders to improve the quality and reliability of cash forecasting information
- Drive initiatives that optimise working capital performance, balancing cash collection, supplier payment practices and business requirements
- Monitor cash performance against forecast, investigating variances and identifying opportunities for improvement
- Provide timely and meaningful reporting and analysis to support effective cash management and business decision-making
Process Improvement And Automation

- Lead continuous improvement initiatives across transactional finance, identifying opportunities to simplify processes, improve controls and drive automation
- Maximise the use of finance systems and technology to drive efficiency across AP, AR, cash management and employee expenses
- Support system enhancement and automation projects, ensuring strong data governance, process integrity and user adoption
- Develop and maintain process documentation, controls and operating procedures for key finance processes
- Embed sustainable process improvements through effective stakeholder engagement, training and knowledge transfer
Stakeholder Engagement & Change Management
- Act as a key escalation point of contact for transactional finance matters across the organisation
- Collaborate with procurement, sales, operations and other business functions to resolve issues and improve end-to-end processes
- Work closely with the wider finance team to support month-end, year-end and audit requirements
