Freelance Interior Architect - Commercial/ Hospitality
Role Overview
A well-known London-based studio is looking for an experienced Freelance Interior Architect to join its team on a contract basis. This role is ideally suited to someone who combines strong technical expertise with an excellent design eye and has a proven track record of delivering high-quality interior architecture projects through RIBA Stages 3 and 4.
You will take ownership of projects from developed design through technical design, coordinating consultants, managing project delivery, and supporting construction on site. This is a hands-on role requiring a confident all-rounder who can lead projects independently while managing a small team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of projects through RIBA Stages 3 and 4, producing coordinated and comprehensive design packages.
- Develop detailed technical drawing packages and construction information suitable for tender and construction.
- Produce and coordinate drawings using AutoCAD, Revit is a bonus.
- Manage and mentor a small internal team of 2–3 designers/technicians.
- Ensure designs are fully coordinated, technically robust, and aligned with the project.
- Attend client, consultant, and contractor meetings, acting as the main point of contact throughout project delivery.
- Work closely with contractors to ensure the design intent is successfully delivered on site.
- Maintain high standards of design quality while balancing technical and commercial requirements.

Skills & Experience
- Demonstrable experience delivering RIBA Stages 3 and 4 on commercial, hospitality, or high-end residential projects.
- Advanced AutoCAD skills.
- Good working knowledge of Revit is a bonus.
- Strong technical detailing and construction knowledge.
- Experience producing coordinated technical drawing packages.
- Confident running projects independently from design development through construction.
- Experience managing site delivery and supporting contractors during construction.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills.
- Experience managing and mentoring a small team.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams.

About You
You are a technically strong interior architect, with an excellent eye for detail and understand how to translate design intent into well-coordinated construction information. You are organized, proactive, and comfortable taking ownership of projects, leading meetings, coordinating consultants, and managing site delivery.
You'll be a confident communicator who enjoys working collaboratively with clients, consultants, contractors, and the wider design team. Above all, you're an adaptable all-rounder who can balance creativity with technical excellence to deliver outstanding projects.
