Internal Sales Adviser – Timber & Building Materials
Location: Glasgow (Kirkintilloch)
Salary: £36,000+ per annum, Dependent on Experience (DOE)
Benefits: Quarterly Incentive/Bonus Scheme + Annual Attendance Bonus
Hours: Monday to Friday 7.30-4.30 and 1 in 3 Saturdays 8am-12pm

The Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic, customer-focused Internal Sales Adviser to join our expanding team. This is a dynamic role within our fast-paced sales operations, offering excellent cross-departmental scope and long-term career progression.
As a core member of the sales team, you will manage a mix of trade and retail customer interactions across multiple channels. Whether dealing with clients face-to-face, via email, or over the telephone, your focus will be on building strong relationships and maximising sales opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
- Customer Service: Provide fast, friendly, and professional advice to customers regarding their building, timber, and landscape projects.
- Sales & Enquiry Management: Efficiently handle customer orders, prepare detailed quotations, and actively follow up on enquiries to maximise conversion rates.
- Account Development: Engage with clients to identify new business opportunities, set up new accounts, and nurture existing trade and retail relationships.
- Order Processing: Accurately process orders and collect payments using our internal sales software and EPOS systems.
- Supplier Liaison: Manage queries for standard stock items and coordinate directly with suppliers for special, bespoke, or non-stock orders.
- Team Support: Assist with standard internal operational duties, merchandising, and maintaining high standards across the sales environment to ensure a premium customer experience.
Skills & Experience Required
- Industry Knowledge: a minimum of 2 years of experience working within a similar merchant or construction supply environment, with a solid understanding of building, timber, and/or landscaping materials.
- Tech Savvy: Confident using computers, internal sales software, and EPOS systems.
- Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills with a positive, helpful, and proactive attitude.
- Adaptability: Ability to thrive as part of a team, work on your own initiative, and multitask efficiently in a busy commercial environment.
