Interior Specialist (Mechanic) – Bombardier’s Business Aircraft London Service Centre
About the Role
Bombardier’s Business Aircraft London Service Centre in Biggin Hill is a flagship facility within Bombardier’s European operation and fastest-growing Service Centre in Europe. Part of the largest Business Aircraft Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) in the UK, this Base and Line Maintenance Centre offers a wide range of maintenance services, including checks, modifications, and upgrades, all in one location. Just 14 miles from London, the site supports operators across the UK and beyond.
As an Interior Specialist, you will play a critical role in fabricating, installing, and refurbishing aircraft interiors—falling under the broader Mechanic job category. The position requires both technical proficiency and operational adaptability to meet Bombardier’s global service standards.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to Bombardier General Work Requirements for factory, shop, and/or hangar positions
- Strict compliance with safety, quality, and environmental health regulations
- Participate in 5-S activities (Seiri, Seiton, Seiso, Seiketsu, Shitsuke) to maintain organisational standards
- Perform all maintenance tasks safely and efficiently, adhering to strict deadlines
- Fabricate, install, and refurbish aircraft interior equipment and furnishings upon work orders or customer requests, including:
- Carpeting and upholstery (seats, side panels, glare shields, card tables, cabinets, and other furnishings)
- All specified repairs, modifications, and upgrades in line with technical manuals and regulatory compliance
- Document all work performed using appropriate manuals, SOPs, and regulatory standards
- Conduct assigned duties according to scheduling and leadership directives
- Occasionally assist with maintenance at off-site client locations
- Clean aircraft interior as needed under job specifications
- Support cross-functional maintenance teams and assist in other mechanical or aviation-related disciplines when required

Requirements
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in interior specialisation, preferably within an aviation context, but with acceptance of prior transferable skills from:
- Wood finishers
- Soft goods and upholstery (including automotive, RV, marine, or other related industries)
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude, with the ability to problem-solve in structured environments
- Strong technical proficiency in interpreting, reading, and applying mechanical engineering drawings
- Basic computer literacy, including proficiency in spreadsheets, documentation software, and other business tools
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, suitable for reporting technical details on aircraft status or project updates
