Intermediate Data Engineer

Intermediate Data Engineer – Veterinary Software Team (London)

IDEXX is seeking an Intermediate Data Engineer to join our Veterinary Software team in London in a hybrid role (2 days onsite at our Wimbledon office).

About the Role

This exciting opportunity allows a data engineer seeking to grow their technical leadership skills while contributing to a meaningful industry—veterinary healthcare software.

As an Intermediate Data Engineer (but aspiring to senior responsibilities), you'll:

  • Lead data migration strategies across hybrid cloud environments (primarily AWS)
  • Design, develop, and optimize scalable and efficient data pipelines, integrating:
    • PHP & C#-based applications (.NET framework backend services)
    • React-based frontends

You’ll leverage AWS tools like Lambda, EKS, EC2, and VPC, along with Terraform for IaC, Airflow pipelines, and Snowflake, while aligning with AI/ML initiatives and data-driven services.

You’ll serve as our go-to engineer for:

  • End-to-end data migration architecture (on-premise → cloud or cloud → cloud transition)
  • Secure and scalable system design using AWS services (S3, Lambda, EKS, EC2, VPC, RDS)
  • Legacy/LAMP stack integration (PHP/C#) with advanced .NET cloud-native microservices

A plus if you have experience in AI to help drive our AI data projects.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
