Intermediate Electrical Engineer
Birmingham | Building Services Consultancy | Hybrid Working
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Intermediate Electrical Engineer to join a growing building services consultancy in Birmingham.
This independent engineering consultancy has been delivering innovative building services solutions for over 25 years, earning an excellent reputation across the healthcare, commercial, education, residential, life sciences, leisure and public sectors.
The business is known for its collaborative approach, technical excellence, and commitment to sustainable, low-carbon design. The Birmingham office is currently entering an exciting period of expansion, with ambitious plans to double the size of the team over the next two years. This presents an excellent opportunity for an ambitious engineer to join the business at a key stage of its growth and play an important role in its future success.
The Role
As an Intermediate Electrical Engineer, you will contribute to the design and delivery of electrical building services projects across a wide range of sectors. Working alongside senior engineers and multidisciplinary teams, you will support projects from concept through to completion.
This role offers excellent exposure to technically challenging projects and provides genuine opportunities for career progression as the Birmingham office continues to grow.
Key responsibilities include:
- Producing electrical building services designs including power, lighting, small power, and associated systems.
- Undertaking design calculations and preparing technical reports.
- Assisting with the preparation of specifications and tender documentation.
- Coordinating designs with mechanical, sustainability, and BIM teams.
- Attending design team meetings, client meetings, and site visits.
- Supporting projects through all RIBA stages.
- Contributing to energy-efficient and low-carbon design solutions.
- Working across a variety of sectors including healthcare, commercial, education, and residential.

About You
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- A degree, HNC, or HND in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
- Experience designing electrical building services systems.
- Knowledge of relevant design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Amtech, Dialux, or similar.
- An understanding of current building regulations and industry standards.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A desire to work towards professional accreditation.
