An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer to join a growing building services consultancy in Birmingham.
Established for over 25 years, this independently owned consultancy delivers high-quality mechanical, electrical and building performance engineering solutions across healthcare, commercial, education, residential, life sciences, leisure and public sectors. The business is renowned for providing technically robust, sustainable and low-carbon design solutions, with collaboration, honesty and quality at its core.
The Birmingham office is entering a period of rapid expansion, with ambitious plans to grow the team significantly over the next two years. This presents an ideal career opportunity for an engineer to progress, take on increased responsibility and play an active role in shaping a new office from the early stages.
The Role
As an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer, you will support the design and delivery of mechanical building systems across a variety of projects, working alongside senior engineers and multidisciplinary teams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Producing mechanical designs for HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) and domestic water services.
- Performing design calculations and technical assessments.
- Drafting specifications, reports, and technical documentation.
- Collaborating with electrical, BIM (Building Information Modelling), and sustainability teams.
- Attending client, design team, and site meetings.
- Supporting projects across healthcare, commercial, residential, education, and public sector developments.
- Assisting in low-carbon and net-zero design strategies.

Requirements
Ideally, you will have:
- A degree, HNC or HND in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering.
- Experience designing HVAC and mechanical services systems.
- Knowledge of industry software, including:
- Hevacomp
- IES
- Revit
- AutoCAD
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A desire to pursue professional Chartership.
