Why This Role Matters
Christie’s is looking for an enthusiastic intern to join our dynamic Proposals team in London.
Proposals is a small but high-performing team that produces bespoke proposals to convince clients to sell their works of art with Christie’s. You will play a pivotal role within the team, supporting the department’s three writers and two graphic designers to produce persuasive, beautifully designed, high-quality proposal documents/presentations – to tight deadlines – in order to win crucial business for Christie’s.
The successful candidate will be required to work in the office at Christie’s King Street five days a week.
How You'll Make an Impact
Your duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting with producing proposal documents for Christie’s departments, such as collating images, writing image captions and helping on proposals content.
- Assist in formatting and filing all view/event/auction shots commissioned from external photographer, and ensure that the department image database and photography tracker are constantly updated.
- Scanning images for the team as needed, and using Adobe Photoshop to edit and format images when necessary.
- Requesting/obtaining images from our in-house systems; ensuring they arrive quickly and are formatted as necessary on arrival.
- Keeping departmental information folders up to date, such as those containing press quotations, staff biographies, staff signatures and specialist team pages.
- Maintaining the Proposals Department Library, including combing other libraries across the organisation to ensure comprehensive and up-to-date images and information are easily available.
- Assisting the team in updating the Filemaker database, tagging each record after project completion to enable detailed searches.
- Being the point of contact for other Christie’s departments and Christie’s regional Proposal teams in Paris, New York and Hong Kong; supplying pdfs, images or other info as necessary.
- Using the Proposals Archive server to answer any queries about historic proposals.
- Organising the monthly writers’ meeting, including preparing the agenda and circulating minutes.
- General housekeeping of the departmental printer/meeting room, including co-ordinating printer maintenance, maintenance of proposals archive and ordering office supplies.
- Printing and binding documents in-house.
- Photocopying.
- Post and courier duties.
- Other administrative duties and general research to assist the writing team.

What you’ll bring to the team
- Native-level fluency in English (written and spoken)
- Minimum of BA degree or equivalent
- Passion for and interest in art
- First-class writing skills, including excellent grammar
- A strong sense of personal accountability
- Able to work well as part of a team
- Highly organised, with strong time management skills
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Quick to learn and implement
- Able to work well under pressure
- A strong sense of initiative
- Confident, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Computer literate, preferably familiar with Mac and Adobe Creative Suite, although training can be given
