About the Role

As a Parenting Coordinator, you will deliver evidence-based parenting programmes and interventions under the Family Hubs and Best Start for Life initiatives. Your role focuses on:

  • Strengthening family relationships, building confidence, and improving child and young person outcomes
  • Home visitation (integral to service requirements)
  • Facilitation of parenting programmes (e.g., Parents as First Teachers)
  • Collaborating with Early Help, schools, health services, and community organisations

Key Responsibilities

Core Duties

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver group-based parenting programmes, workshops, and interventions (including evenings).
  • Build trusting, professional relationships with parents using strengths-based and inclusive approaches.
  • Conduct pre-programme assessments to identify family needs, risks, and programme suitability.
  • Engage families through targeted outreach, referrals, and partnerships.
  • Provide information, advice, and signposting to broader services.
  • Maintain compliant records (e.g., in Mosaic) and monitor service performance.
  • Identify and escalate safeguarding concerns per policies.
  • Coordinate support across multi-agency teams, including Early Help, Family Hubs, schools, and health services.
  • Deliver home visits and community support (libraries, Family Hubs, etc.).
  • Stay updated on best practices in parenting, child development, and early intervention.
  • Develop parenting resources and materials.
  • Adhere to health & safety, safeguarding, and organisational policies.

Projects & Initiatives

  • Implement evidence-based programmes (Parents as First Teachers, Strengthening Families).
  • Contribute to service development, evaluation, and improvement initiatives.

Supervisory Expectations

  • Assume specialist facilitator ownership of programme delivery.
  • Provide guidance to volunteers (where applicable).

Qualifications & Experience

Minimum Requirements:

  • GCSEs (or equivalents) in English and Maths.
  • 1+ years’ experience working with children/families, including group facilitation or parenting programmes.
  • Experience supporting families facing multi-dimensional challenges (mental health, domestic abuse, substance misuse).
  • Strong knowledge of child development, family dynamics, safeguarding, and risk assessment.

Desirable:

  • Qualifications in childcare, social care, early years, or community development.
  • Experience with recognised parenting programmes, home visiting, and Early Help systems.
  • Competency in case management systems (e.g., Mosaic).
