About The Team
Our Risk Consulting team delivers internal audit, advisory, and assurance services to organisations in the public and social sectors. Our clients—passionate about driving societal change—rely on us for:
- Risk management clarity
- Control framework improvements
- Strategic recommendations
We serve six key sectors:
- Local government
- Education (schools, universities, colleges)
- Central government
- Housing
- Police (discourse reconfigured for security/alignment policies)
- Charities
Your work in this sector directly supports and improves local communities while addressing sector-wide challenges.
The Role
As Engagement Manager for a portfolio of clients, your responsibilities will include:
Key Responsibilities
- Providing proactive, high-value internal audit services, ensuring quality, timeliness, and continuous improvement.
- Driving growth: Expanding our client portfolio through proactive business development.
- Leading engagement teams: As the frontline client manager, you’ll:
- Manage stakeholder relationships (clients, auditees, leadership).
- Oversee financial performance (budgeting, resourcing, organisational planning).
- Coordinate delivery of internal audit services, ensuring alignment with quality standards and deadlines.
- Mentoring team growth: Supporting training, feedback, and career development of junior colleagues.

What We Are Looking For
Key Experience & Skills
You must demonstrate: ✔ Proven track record in delivering internal audit services specifically within the Public & Social Sector. ✔ Expertise in plan execution, including:
- Coordinating Internal Audit Strategies and Annual Plans (scheduling, resourcing, respecialisation).
- Ensuring alignment of teams and clients with strategic objectives.
✔ Exceptional communication skills, both verbal (e.g. presentations) and written (e.g. terms of reference, Documentation). ✔ Leadership ability to:
- Teach, nurture, and coach juniors colleagues in best practices.
- Provide actionable feedback and propose developmental growth strategies.

✔ Proficiency in fieldwork execution, including:
- Collaborating with stakeholders and auditees.
- Developing Terms of Reference (TOR) and briefings for engagements.
- Facilitating constructive feedback sessions post-audit.
✔ Specialist knowledge (a plus) in:
- Governance, Data Analytics
- Projects, Programmes, Transformation & Change
- Commercial, Procurement, or People & Culture
education & qualifications
- Chartered accountancy qualification: Preferred (e.g. ACA, CA, ACCA, IIA). Other professionally recognised equivalent credentials also considered.
