About the Role

We’re seeking an enthusiastic and driven Internal Auditor to join our Finance Team, providing oversight and adding value through high-profile audit assignments. This role offers a paid career trajectory in a growing industry responsible for the day-to-day power reliability of millions.

Salary & Benefits

  • Competitive salary band: £60,000 – £65,000
  • Company pension scheme (enrolment upon joining)
  • 25 days’ paid annual leave
  • Up to 15% performance bonus

Key Responsibilities

As the Internal Auditor, you will:

  • Conduct audit planning, agreeing scope and approach with management.
  • Assess and prioritise business risks and their significance to the organisation.
  • Identify and test key controls designed to mitigate operational risks.
  • Adhere to budget constraints while delivering high-quality outcomes.
  • Prepare and finalise audit reports, ensuring clarity and accuracy.
  • Present findings and recommendations to management with constructive challenge.
  • Undertake ad hoc investigations where necessary.

Key Competencies

The ideal candidate demonstrates:

  • Technical audit expertise with analytical skills to evaluate controls, processes, and emerging risks.
  • Strong risk assessment capability, including the ability to quantify and evaluate risks.
  • Excellent communication skills, including engaging stakeholders and providing challenge where relevant.
  • Robust report-writing with sharp focus on the most critical issues.
  • Unwavering organisation and prioritisation, balancing multiple work streams within deadlines.
  • Confidence and resilience in navigating interactions at all levels of the organisation.

Skills, Knowledge & Qualifications

Essential Requirements

  • Proven Internal Audit experience, including special investigations and consultancy reviews.
  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) – statutory requirement.
  • Full, valid driving licence (location-based).

Desirable Experience

  • Internal Audit Institute qualification (e.g., IIA accreditation).
  • Degree-level qualification in a relevant discipline (accounting, finance, etc.).
  • Technical expertise in IT audit (e.g., CISA certification).
  • Risk management qualifications (e.g., IRM accreditation).
  • Data analytics experience (e.g., tools such as Sigma, ACL, or tableaus).
  • Knowledge of controls and risk self-assessment methodologies.
  • Familiarity with assurance mapping and the "three lines of defence" model.
