Internal Auditor
Internal Auditor
📍 London | £40,404 | Permanent | Hybrid Working
I'm currently working with a leading London Local Authority to recruit an Internal Auditor to join their well-established Internal Audit & Risk Management team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with internal audit experience looking to broaden their exposure across a wide range of services while playing a key role in strengthening governance, improving controls, and delivering real value to the organisation.
The Role
You'll be responsible for planning and delivering internal audit assignments from start to finish across a diverse portfolio of Council services.
Working closely with senior stakeholders, you'll assess governance, risk management, and internal control frameworks, identify opportunities for improvement, and provide practical recommendations that support better decision-making. This is a varied position where no two audits are the same—offering exposure to financial systems, operational processes, and corporate governance across multiple service areas.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
