Internal Communications & Engagement Manager
We’re looking for an experienced Internal Communications & Engagement Manager to support the day-to-day running of B&M’s busy Internal Communications & Engagement team.
Responsible for maintaining momentum, quality and confidence across internal communications, you’ll independently draft, sense-check, proof and sign off content, manage stakeholders, and keep essential activities moving.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive internal communications plans across colleague surveys, values launches and engagement campaigns.
- Translate strategic objectives into clear comms plans, specifying audiences, key messages, optimal channels, and timelines.
- Independently draft, edit and commission high-quality internal communications content.
- Oversee the work of the Internal Communications & Engagement Co-ordinator, offering guidance and ensuring high-quality output.
- Simplify complex or sensitive information into clear, engaging colleague-friendly messaging.
- Act as final editorial gatekeeper, ensuring accuracy, on-brand alignment and rigorous proofreading.
- Maintain strict standards for grammar, tone of voice and clarity of communication.
- Manage large-scale internal events from start to finish, including planning, supplier coordination, content development, and delivery.
- Confidently lead day-to-day internal communications activities, ensuring continuity, decision-making, and operational success even in the absence of the Head of Internal Communications.

Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in internal communications with a strong track record of delivering impactful strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute comprehensive comms plans, especially for employee surveys and organisational values/culture launches.
- Exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills, adaptable to diverse stakeholder audiences and tones.
- Proven experience in planning and executing high-impact internal events, ensuring strong engagement and seamless delivery.
- Experience in acting as a deputy for senior leaders or operating individually with minimal direct oversight—showcasing strong judgement and decision-making.
- Familiarity with operating within a PLC or listed business, with knowledge of corporate governance, compliance, and key stakeholder expectations.
