About the Role
As Internal Communications Manager, you’ll take a central role in driving and shaping William Reed’s crucial period of transformation. Part of a globally recognised, family-owned media business with over a century of heritage, William Reed is evolving through collaboration, harnessing collective strengths, and pioneering new ways of working to create value for the food and drink industry.
Your core responsibility? To shape and communicate our strategic journey—clearly articulating where we’re heading, why it matters, and how every employee can contribute. This involves developing engaging, coherent narratives for all internal audiences, creating visibility for leadership, and fostering alignment across the organisation through dynamic, multi-channel communications.
Responsibilities
Strategic & Cross-Functional Leadership
- Develop and implement an internal communications strategy, ensuring alignment with business priorities, organisational objectives, and employee engagement priorities.
- Partner with senior stakeholders including the Executive Team to communicate strategy, performance updates, and major organisational change effectively.
- Oversee two-way communication pathways, including feedback mechanisms, employee engagement forums, and interactive initiatives to sustain dialogue.
Content & Channel Development
- Lead the creation and delivery of engaging communication content across formats, including:
- Written communications (e.g., newsletters, blog posts)
- Presentations and presentations materials
- Multimedia campaigns and internal broadcasts
- Optimise and manage internal communication channels to ensure timely, consistent messaging—enabling easy access across the organisation.

Change & Culture Advocacy
- Champion cultural initiatives, employee-led values, and organisational identity through storytelling.
- Align and maintain messaging consistency across business teams and communication channels.
- Support and facilitate clear, transparent change communication during organisational transitions.
Measurement & Improvement
- Measure the effectiveness of internal communications, leveraging feedback and data to enhance engagement.
- Collaborate with People & Culture teams on initiatives such as:
- Learning and development
- Engagement surveys
- Wellbeing programmes
- Recognition campaigns
Requirements
- Experience in internal communications, employee engagement, or corporate communications, preferably in a high-growth or transformation-focused organisation.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills: Ability to craft clear, engaging, and accessible messaging from complex information.
- Strong ability to adapt communication style and “tone of voice” to diverse audiences or complex situations.
- Stakeholder management experience, including working closely with executive leaders.
- Multitasking & project management skills: Balancing multiple communication priorities and deadlines efficiently.
- Experience managing internal communication channels (e.g., intranets, digital platforms).
- Knowledge of employee engagement principles, change management, and organisational culture.
- Proven ability to use data-driven insights to measure impact and refine approaches.
