Internal & Corporate Communications Manager
Reporting into the Marketing Director
Swindon – Hybrid Working
£ Competitive Salary plus Car Allowance
Job Purpose
As Internal & Corporate Communications Manager, you’ll provide trusted counsel to the Marketing Director and wider Leadership Team, helping bring our future plans to life. You’ll lead communications for change management and business transformation projects, support our sustainability and social responsibility agenda, and strengthen our reputation as a quality, trusted business.
You'll develop and deliver compelling strategies, plans, and content that stimulate a positive working culture, enhance colleague engagement, and build and protect our reputation as a great business to work for and buy from. You'll take ownership of all internal channels and messaging and work closely with our external communications agency on corporate reputation, media coverage, and storytelling.
What You Will Be Doing
- Act as the expert advisor to the business on internal and corporate communications, including change management, crisis communication, thought leadership media engagements, and our sustainability and social responsibility agenda.
- Write and deliver compelling internal communications that support our strategy, direction, and areas of business focus, culturally aligning colleagues to our purpose, strategy, and values.
- Work with multiple stakeholders, including senior leaders, to deliver regular updates, webinars, and messaging to the whole business, and to shape strategy and content for events such as roadshows, conferences, townhalls, and high-profile media visits.
- Create business-critical and company newsletter communications, crafting clear, compelling, on-brand messaging and advising leaders on storytelling and the most effective channels to cascade.
- Drive creativity and innovation through our communication channels, including social media, and create new communication methods to ensure colleagues in stores and support centers are engaged and informed.
- Work with our external communications agency, supporting our external messaging, managing local press office queries, and generating positive media coverage that builds our corporate reputation.
- Ensure all external and internal messaging, social media, and design consistently reflects and promotes our brand and culture.
- Provide strategic counsel to the Marketing Director, CEO, and relevant leaders on crisis communications, actively mitigating reputational issues as they arise.
- Stay updated with industry trends, best practice, technologies, and professional bodies in internal and corporate communications to continuously improve effectiveness.
- Take accountability for the internal and corporate communications budget, and for the management and performance review of agency partners.
- Support the Marketing Director by contributing towards the development and evolution of the wider marketing and brand strategy.

Who We Are Looking For
- Experience in internal communications & people engagement, ideally across a dispersed colleague base (retail stores and support centers)
- Experience of external communications and working with an external PR/comms agency, including managing press office queries and generating positive media coverage
- Strategic thinker with experience shaping the internal narrative within a fast-paced, evolving business, and translating strategy into compelling long-term plans
- Proven stakeholder management experience, including building effective relationships with, and influencing, senior/Leadership Team stakeholders
- Crisis management experience; comfortable advising on and handling challenging or sensitive situations
- First-class writing, storytelling, and creative skills, with experience using Canva or similar packages, and a natural ability to distill complex ideas simply and engagingly
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail, able to juggle & prioritize multiple projects at pace and remain calm under pressure
- Able to think logically and creatively to find the best way to solve problems and get things done
- Strong team-working skills, comfortable working cross-functionally as well as the ability to work independently
