Internal Sales Representative

Are you a passionate sales professional who thrives on developing customer relationships and uncovering new business opportunities? Do you enjoy working in a fast-paced commercial environment where your contribution directly influences business success?
At Heidelberg Materials, we're looking for an Internal Sales Representative to play a pivotal role in growing our customer base, strengthening existing relationships, and delivering an exceptional customer experience.
Working closely with the wider commercial team, including Area DSMs, you'll be responsible for generating sales opportunities, managing pricing for key customers, and ensuring a seamless and professional service from enquiry through to order fulfilment.

- Generating new business through structured outbound sales activity and targeted follow-up.
- Building strong relationships with prospective and existing customers.
- Managing a portfolio of customers through planned sales calls and customer management plans.
- Identifying key decision-makers and effectively communicating Heidelberg Materials' value proposition.
- Pricing customer opportunities in line with agreed commercial guidelines.
- Working collaboratively with DSMs to analyse market opportunities, customer trends, and competitor activity.
- Recognising opportunities to add value and support customers in achieving their business objectives.
Delivering Outstanding Customer Service
You'll provide a professional, personal, and responsive service by:
- Handling customer enquiries promptly and efficiently via phone and email.
- Producing accurate quotations that meet customer requirements and expectations.
- Managing customer interactions confidently, with empathy and professionalism.
- Resolving customer issues wherever possible, identifying practical solutions that support both the customer and the business.
- Liaising with internal teams, plants, transport, and operational colleagues to ensure customer needs are met.
- Escalating issues appropriately when required and ensuring customers remain informed throughout.
Supporting Commercial Operations
You'll also:
- Maintain accurate administration and customer records.
- Navigate internal systems efficiently and accurately.
- Contribute positively to team performance and morale.
- Develop knowledge across the wider team and provide support and cover where needed.
- Continuously build your understanding of our products, customers, and market sectors.

What We're Looking For
We're keen to hear from candidates who can demonstrate:
- Experience in sales, account management, customer service, or a commercial environment.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Confidence in making outbound sales calls and developing new business opportunities.
- The ability to influence, negotiate, and close conversations positively.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- A customer-focused mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.
- The ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams and functions.
- A proactive, resilient, and results-driven approach.
- Experience within construction materials, manufacturing, or a related industry would be beneficial, but not essential.

Key performance indicators include:
- Volume and margin growth across allocated plants.
- Growth in customer numbers.
- Increased value-added product sales.
- Cash sale volume and profitability.
- Reduction in customer queries and issues.
- Quotation volumes generated.
- Speed and quality of quotation turnaround.
