The Transport Business Line in the UK is based out of the Laboratory testing facilities located at Segensworth in Fareham. Core market sectors within Transport are focused upon Defence, Aerospace, Marine, in-vehicle connectivity and technology, New Energy Vehicle solutions, and Rail applications.
The testing for this role is focused upon components used in transport applications with a specialism on extensive laboratory-based environmental testing, mechanical shock, vibration and packaging testing, defence and civil EMC testing, battery testing, radio frequency, product safety, and SAR testing services.
Role Overview
This is an exciting opportunity to join our Commercial Team within the Transport Business Line working with the latest cutting-edge technologies at the forefront of the Testing, Inspection, and Certification (TIC) industry. You will be working as part of a dynamic sales team in partnership with our highly motivated technical experts to react to customer requirements to offer tailored solutions covering a whole portfolio of compliance services.
Our ability to listen to the customer, identify their exact requirements, and respond quickly with a technical and commercial solution sets us apart from our competitors, therefore this role will ideally suit a candidate with a technical aptitude, a drive to succeed, and sales exposure within an engineering environment.
Your experience will either be directly from within the testing area of the TIC industry. Alternatively, you will have exposure and experience of product qualification through direct engagement with external Test House suppliers or in-house testing capability within one of the core market sectors mentioned above.

Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Engage with customers through face-to-face or MS Teams meetings. Self-generated and/or assigned opportunities
- Evaluate customer enquiries and provide a comprehensive technical quotation or proposal using the provided work standards and commercial pricing tools.
- Plan and prioritize personal sales activities to include opportunity management, develop relationships with clients, and report pipeline opportunities to your line manager.
- Loading of incoming enquiries onto the CRM system.
- Be able to identify and provide solution-based packages from TÜV SÜD’s service portfolio.
- Liaise with sales, marketing, and project managers to successfully promote the business, prioritize effort, gather intelligence, and agree on direction and price strategies.
- Maintain regular contact with existing customers, develop and maintain good customer relationships at all levels, and ensure an excellent standard of service is provided.
- Actively seek to improve efficiency and sales performance through innovative means, identify, and attend training as required to develop relevant knowledge and skills.
- Attend relevant events, participate in sales campaigns, and network effectively to build and develop contacts.
Who are we looking for?
The Successful Candidate Could Be Either
- A tenacious salesperson, who has experience with quotation generation for product testing services from the TIC (Test, Inspection, and Certification) industry, specifically EMC (RTCA DO160, Def Stan 59-411, Mil std 461).
OR
- An experienced EMC (RTCA DO160, Def Stan 59-411, Mil std 461) Engineer, with knowledge of the technical test process and regulations, who is interested in developing into a sales-focused position
Essential Criteria
- An engineering or technical background
- Laboratory-based product testing knowledge within the Test, Inspection, and Certification (TIC) industry or industry experience of product qualification using laboratory-based product testing.
- A good understanding of at least one of the market sectors within Transport: Defence, Aerospace, Marine, in-vehicle connectivity and technology, New Energy Vehicle solutions, and Rail applications.
- Has a current valid driving license and is willing to travel across the UK as required.
- A technical aptitude is essential, with the successful candidate demonstrating an ability to develop an understanding of technical information and embed this learning within their work.
- Good interpersonal skills evidenced by constructive internal and external relationships.
- Comfortable dealing with customers and prospects at all levels.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, Excel & PowerPoint.
