Role Description
The International Adviser is a temporary hybrid role based in Egham, with flexibility to work from home for part of the week. The role focuses on advising and supporting international students and prospective applicants on matters such as visas and immigration, academic progression, and general welfare. The International Adviser will collaborate with academic departments, central university services, and external partners to ensure consistent, high-quality support for international learners. The role also involves:
- Monitoring relevant policy changes
- Helping to improve advisory processes
- Promoting best practice in international student support
Qualifications
- Experience providing advice or student support in an international or higher education context, with strong cross-cultural awareness and sensitivity.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain complex information (e.g., admissions or visa requirements) clearly in writing and in person.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills, with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple cases or tasks at once.
- Confidence using digital tools and student information systems, including email, online meeting platforms, and standard office software.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid environment, demonstrating sound judgment and discretion when handling confidential information.
- Knowledge of international education pathways or UK immigration and visa regulations for students is highly desirable.
- Relevant degree or equivalent professional experience in education, international relations, social sciences, or a related field.
- Prior experience in a university, college, or international student advisory setting is an advantage.
