Role type: Permanent, full-time, hybrid

The Role:

We underwrite Delegated business as well as Lineslips and Master Policies for both International (predominantly UK, Australia, Canada & Europe) and US business across Corporate Risks, Medical Practitioners and Allied Health sectors.

  • Take responsibility for the production and on-going oversight of new and renewal business for a range of clients across the Healthcare portfolio, including preparing and presenting business cases as appropriate.
  • Liaise with the claims team in monitoring loss costs and claims patterns on both a portfolio and individual claim basis.
  • Work closely with our technology team in developing and utilising analytical oversight tools via our proprietary tech platform, Graphene, to enhance our underwriting approach.
  • Take responsibility for on-going binder performance to ensure long term profitability across the healthcare portfolio, including identifying and implementing coverage/guideline improvements as appropriate to suit market conditions.
  • Review and produce policy wordings, coverage forms and endorsements as appropriate.
  • Work closely with the actuarial department, including binder pricing discussions.
  • Handle referrals and special acceptances from Coverholders as appropriate.
  • Monitor and assess the marketplace, including competitor pricing and product offerings.
  • Work with senior management to identify new client prospects, and build business cases for prospective clients.
  • Supporting senior management and contribute to the syndicate business planning and forecasting processes.
  • Maintain key stakeholder relationships, including Coverholders, brokers, consortium partners and (re)insurance partners, ensuring regular dialogue, client meetings/office visits and presentations to external stakeholders as appropriate.
  • Undertake research and prepare papers on insurance related projects.
  • Work closely with all clients to ensure deadlines are met and correspondence is responded to promptly.

Required Experience

  • Extensive broker relationship network
  • Proven experience of generating new business leads
  • Strong technical understanding of wordings/coverage forms for relevant territories and Medical Specialism knowledge
  • Ability to offer creative solutions
  • Commitment to needs of the clients and strong relationship management skills
  • Demonstrable sales, negotiation and analytical skills
  • Good presentation skills
  • Excellent time management capabilities
  • ACII preferable but not required
