International Media Relations Executive – 12 Month FTC

Location: Carrington Training Centre

The Role

This influential role leads on Manchester United’s international media relations. It is a fast-paced, highly collaborative strategic role, responsible for delivering world-class global media and PR activity, managing relationships with key stakeholders, and ensuring our communications work enhances the visibility, profile, and reputation of our players, staff, and teams.

The role is accountable for:

  • Developing and executing international communications strategies.
  • Proactively managing relationships with global media outlets.
  • Supporting media obligations with a focus on international and non-English-speaking players.

This is an exceptional opportunity for the right candidate to strengthen the club’s presence across the global media landscape and contribute to the momentum and growth of Manchester United.


Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and develop strong relationships with key international media, broadcasters, journalists, and stakeholders to align with the club’s communications approach.
  • Support media rights obligations and discretionary access for Men’s, Women’s, and Academy activities, including coordinating:
    • Interviews
    • Press conferences
    • Media events
  • Focus particularly on international players and non-English speakers.
  • Deliver strategic approaches to grow and diversify our audience, deepening connections with existing fans and attracting new supporters.
  • Create creative, engaging communications for non-endemic international media, covering proactive and reactive campaigns.
  • Support majority of Men’s home and away fixtures, with significant responsibilities within UEFA competitions.
  • Produce clear and compelling written materials, including:
    • Press releases
    • Features
    • Briefings
    • Messaging documents for internal and external audiences.
  • Monitor global media and social media to provide advice, identify trends, flag risks, and support proactive/reactive communications.
  • Collaborate closely with content, marketing, commercial, and Foundation teams to ensure aligned and integrated activities.
  • Evaluate and report on campaigns, guiding internal decisions and external narratives.

The Person

Required & Preferred Qualifications

  • Additional languages are required; proficient French, Spanish, and/or Portuguese is preferable.
  • Relevant experience in communications, PR and/or media, ideally within elite sport or football.
  • Strong understanding of the global sports media landscape, including key:
    • Journalists
    • Platforms
    • Audience expectations
  • Proven track record in establishing strategic relationships with external stakeholders.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with a strong attention to detail and editorial judgement.
  • Ability to collaborate across complex teams and communicate confidently with diverse stakeholders.
