Overview
The International Operations Agent I will report directly to the Operations Manager within the Operations department at the station. This position will be responsible for:
- Controlling international freight forwarding shipments into the USA and Mexico across all modes of transport per customer request.
- Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Quoting and routing freight
- Tracking shipments
- Troubleshooting and overcoming operational challenges
- Assisting local sales and global offices with air and/or ocean export matters
- The primary focus of this role: providing a high-level of excellent customer service to all customers and vendors.
Responsibilities

Work with customers to:
- Qualify shipping requirements
- Obtain all details (e.g., regulations, certificates, documentation) needed for shipment quotation and operations
- Ensure satisfaction of customer requests

Prepare profitable quotations accurately

Set shipping schedules and:
- Communicate with customers, deliveries, and ports
- Verify loading, departures, and arrivals in a timely manner

Coordinate:
- Day-to-day import/export of products (including reviewing orders and documents)
- Logistic operations tasks with local sales teams and global offices

Track and communicate delays, damages, problems, and work toward resolving customer issues

Handle all aspects of air and/or ocean international operations, including:
- Customer service
- Data entry of shipments
- Operations and billing

Manage all aspects of shipment tracking to:
- Ensure shipments move as scheduled
- Update systems upon verification
- Identify/rectify deviations and re-routing if necessary

Coordinate recovery/delivery schedules with cartage agents and international partners

Partner with local sales to:
- Communicate problems to customers, international partners, and other AIT stations, as needed
- Ensure all customer Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and AIT Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are adhered to and met

Ensure all shipments are:
- Properly billed within company guidelines and timelines

Process and comply with all requirements from:
- Regulatory agencies
- International and U.S. regulatory authorities

Collaborate with corresponding department stakeholders to:
- Ensure smooth financial processing (e.g., billing, file updates) before month-end deadlines

Commit to continuous learning through:
- Required compliance training
- Certifications in software and/or regulatory knowledge
Wage Range
The estimated wage range for this position is $21.80–$43.50/hr, subject to variations based on geography, skills, expertise, and experience.
Qualifications
Education Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent: Required
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent: Preferred
Experience Requirements
- 2+ years in export/import operations: Required
- 2+ years of working knowledge in:
- Freight forwarding (IATA/NVOCC), FAA, TSA, export compliance, AES, and General CBP (Customs and Border Protection)
- Basic ITAR, DG (Dangerous Goods), or TSA-specific regulations (high proficiency): Required
- 2+ years of ability to work in a multi-tasked, fast-paced, high-volume environment: Preferred

Licenses & Certifications
- CargoWISE certification: Required within 18 months of hire
- Certification in basic Microsoft Office suite: Required within 18 months of hire
