Role Overview
Every year, thousands of people are injured in accidents or are taken seriously ill while abroad. We help clients pursue compensation claims following accidents, injuries or illness sustained whilst travelling or working abroad. Our lawyers have helped thousands to claim compensation following illness or accidents abroad in a wide range of circumstances, including road traffic accidents, food poisoning and gastric illness and accidents at sea.
Our International Serious Injury Team in Manchester deals exclusively with serious injury claims with the added complexity of cross-border litigation. We pride ourselves on making a real difference and helping people to live a life as full as possible after a serious injury. This is litigation of the most challenging nature and regularly involves making new law or pushing the boundaries of existing law as the cases concerned deal with complex issues of applicable law, liability and jurisdictional arguments.
The International Serious Injury team acts exclusively for individuals who have sustained injuries as a result of accidents abroad, or foreign residents who are injured whilst visiting the UK. The team deals with employers’ liability, package holiday, aviation, cruise, RTA, clinical negligence and public liability matters. Many of our clients have suffered catastrophic injuries and the role will involve some travel to meet clients and family members and to attend Court hearings and conferences with experts and / or counsel.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
