Corporate & Investment Banking Graduate Scheme – **Global Institutional Business (GIB) UK »

The Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) Division specialises in optimising investment, trading, financing, and transactional services for institutions and corporates. Our Global Institutional Business team serves banks, asset managers, and insurers in the UK.

About the Role

Are you an ambitious recent graduate looking to kickstart your career in Corporate & Investment Banking and Financial Institutions? Join our Global Institutional Business (GIB) Graduate Programme in the UK, where you’ll gain direct exposure to a premier CIB operation, supporting Senior Bankers and building key professional relationships.


What You Will Do

Client & Presentation Support

  • Assist in preparing and coordinating pitches for Financial Institutions (FIG) clients, including market analyses, strategic recommendations, and data insights.
  • Draft and refine client briefings ahead of meetings to ensure senior bankers are fully prepared.

Financial & Credit Analysis

  • Support the team in crediting institutional clients, conducting deep-dive financial analysis and due diligence.
  • Assist in preparing credit requests and committee presentations, including profitability modelling for transactions.

Market & Sector Intelligence

  • Conduct pandemic sector-based analyses, tracking news and market trends to inform business strategy.
  • Provide business intelligence support to senior bankers, ensuring relevant insights are easily accessible.

Commercial Monitoring & Collaboration

  • Monitor day-to-day commercial activity and pipelines via Salesforce, overseeing visits, engagement tracking, and follow-up.
  • Facilitate smooth collaboration between UK-based bankers and specialized teams in Madrid, including DCM, Global Markets, Lending, and Transaction Banking.

What You Bring

Education

  • Recent Graduate (or on placement/gap year) with:
    • A degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or Engineering from a top-ranked university.
  • A clear career ambition in the finance sector.

Languages

  • Fluent English (C2 level, written & spoken) – mandatory.
  • Spanish language skills are a strong advantage and may be rewarded in the hiring process.

Key Competencies

  • Analytical mindset: Strong financial acumen and problem-solving ability.
  • Communication skills: Ability to convey complex ideas clearly, whether in writing or orally.
  • Team spirit: Collaborative and adaptable in a multicultural environment.
  • Tech proficiency:
    • Strong command of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
    • Familiarity with CRM platforms (Salesforce) is highly regarded.

Practical Skills Development

  • Direct experience in financial analysis and credit processes, including lending, risk evaluation, and profitability calculations.

  • Commitment: Full-time, 1-year graduate position (not a summer internship).
