Intune Subject Matter Expert (SME)

Location: Remote (UK)

Active UK Security Clearance (SC) – Mandatory

About the Role

Our clients are seeking an experienced Microsoft Intune Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join their Delivery Engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, configuration, administration, optimisation, and support of Microsoft Intune and modern endpoint management solutions across a Microsoft 365 environment.

You will play a key role in managing Windows endpoints, deploying applications, implementing compliance and security policies, supporting Windows Autopilot, delivering operating system upgrades, and developing automation to improve operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Configure, administer, and optimise Microsoft Intune for device enrolment, endpoint management, application deployment, and compliance.
  • Design and maintain Intune configuration profiles, security baselines, compliance policies, and device configuration settings.
  • Deploy and manage Windows applications, application updates, and operating system upgrades through Microsoft Intune.
  • Configure, maintain, and support Windows Autopilot for modern device provisioning and lifecycle management.
  • Implement endpoint security controls, including compliance policies, conditional access integration, and Microsoft security best practices.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot endpoint management issues, resolving complex device, enrolment, application deployment, and policy-related incidents.
  • Collaborate with Security, Infrastructure, and Workplace Technology teams to strengthen endpoint protection and support security initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate administration, reporting, and operational tasks.
  • Produce and maintain high-quality technical documentation, operational procedures, standards, and best practice guides.
  • Provide technical leadership and subject matter expertise for Microsoft Intune and modern endpoint management technologies.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Extensive hands-on experience administering Microsoft Intune within an enterprise environment.
  • Strong understanding of device management, application deployment, compliance policies, and configuration profiles.
  • Experience with Windows Autopilot and modern Windows device provisioning.
  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID, cloud identity management, RBAC, licensing, and endpoint compliance.
  • Practical PowerShell scripting skills for automation, administration, and reporting.
  • Experience implementing Mobile Device Management (MDM), Mobile Application Management (MAM), and Mobile Content Management (MCM).
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft 365 endpoint security, Conditional Access, and security best practices.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex endpoint management issues.
  • Excellent documentation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
