Your Role
We are looking for a motivated, analytical, and detail-oriented Buyer / Inventory Controller to join our Purchasing & Supply Chain team based at our Thorncliffe Park Distribution Centre in Sheffield.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in ensuring product availability, maintaining optimum stock levels, and supporting the smooth operation of our supply chain. You will work closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders to manage inventory, forecast demand, place purchase orders, and resolve supply-related issues.
Working hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 2 days from home & 3 days onsite
Location: Thorncliffe Park, Sheffield, S35 2PW – located just off Junction 35A of the M1. We offer free car parking.
Your Main Responsibilities
- Place and progress purchase orders with approved suppliers.
- Monitor and manage inventory levels against agreed stock targets.
- Analyse customer demand, sales forecasts, promotions, and manufacturing trends to make informed purchasing decisions.
- Minimise backorder situations within your product portfolio.
- Produce and maintain inventory management reports.
- Resolve supplier delivery and invoice queries efficiently.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external suppliers.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues across all levels of the business.

What You Need To Succeed
- Experience within a purchasing, inventory control, supply chain, or stock management environment.
- Knowledge of purchasing processes and inventory management principles.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
- Good IT skills and experience using business systems and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- A proactive and customer-focused approach.
