Inventory Operator
DSV – Inventory Operator x 2 Job Req Number: 120427 Location: Brackmills, Northampton Shift: Mon–Fri, 14:00–22:00 Time Type: Full-Time
About the Role
We’re expanding our global logistics network and are seeking Inventory Operators to join our Northampton site.
Your role will centre on maintaining stock accuracy through physical and system-based inventory checks, including PI counts, recounts, stock investigations, and warehouse queries. Operating primarily in an execution-focused capacity, you’ll follow priorities set by the Inventory Team Leader and Inventory Supervisor.
Key Responsibilities
- Actively participate on the warehouse floor to understand processes and stock movement.
- Conduct scheduled inventory checks including:
- PI counts, recounts, and stock record validations.
- Locked inventory verification (minimum checks every two hours).
- Investigating and clearing auto-generated stock reconciliations (escalating unresolved issues to the team leader).
- Resolve warehouse queries, discrepancies (e.g. nil picks, short picks), and issues like unidentified inventory or stock not found.
- Conduct physical stock checks, including:
- Adjacent/empty location audits.
- Batch/serial/expiry/condition code verifications.
- Confirming correct SKU, UOM, and location.
- Gather evidence for stock adjustments, client claims, and discrepancy investigations.
- Carry out spot checks on picking/goods-in activities (where trained).
- Assess reasons for unidentified inventory and support return-to-stock operations.
- Maintain stock in appropriate zones and report storage/location concerns.
- Assist with QC checks, VAS work, or general operational support as trained.
- Suggest repeated issue resolutions or process improvements (without ownership of escalation/problem-solving unless authorised).

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
