About the Role
We’re seeking Inventory Operators to join our Brackmills, Northampton site. You’ll ensure stock accuracy through physical and system-based inventory checks, PI counts, stock investigations, and warehouse queries.
This role is execution-focused, supporting prioritised tasks set by the Inventory Team Leader and Inventory Supervisor.
Responsibilities
Inventory & Stock Management
- Maintain an understanding of warehouse processes and stock movement.
- Carry out:
- PI counts, recounts, and scheduled inventory checks (as instructed).
- Stock record checks and auto-generated stock discrepancies.
- Empty location checks, batch/serial/expiry verifications, and system error investigations.
- Adjacent location stock disparities.
- Complete spot checks on picking and goods intake (where trained).
- Check unfold stock accuracy against:
- SKU, batch, serial numbers, expiry dates, condition codes, unit of measure (UOM), and warehouse locations.
- Ensure locked inventory compliance, including 2-hour checks or as required.
- Manage unidentified stock and support return-to-stock activity.
Problem-Solving & Reporting
- Escalate unresolved issues to the Inventory Team Leader (where required).
- Gather evidence for stock adjustments, client claims, and discrepancy investigations.
- Raise repeated process issues or improvement ideas (department-owned reporting is not a responsibility unless authorised).
- Support QC & VAS operative tasks when requested and trained.

Compliance & Assistant Roles
- Adhere to site processes, safety, housekeeping, and customer requirements.
- Follow processes for recounts, stock verification, nil/short picks, and location concerns.
- Maintain stock integrity and raise storage glitches to supervision.
Requirements
Essential
- Attention to detail—accuracy required for counting, recording, and stock checks.
- Ability to follow instructions methodically and document investigations.
- Strong verbal & written communication (for reporting and supervision).
- Basic warehouse operations experience in stock control, inventory, or investigational work.
- Microsoft Office skills (Essential).
- Excel & Outlook proficiency required for system checks and reporting.
- Physically able to work on warehouse floors (standing/lifting; no desk-based duties).
- Commitment to data accuracy, safety protocols, and customer satisfaction.
Desirable
- Previous WMS system experience (CargoWrite, RedPrairie).
- Basic training in inventory discrepancy investigations or PI count experience.
- CargoWrite/RedPrairie licensing or WMS familiarity.
- Existing manual handling experience (MHE) or certification such as:
- RT (Reach Truck): Trainer[less necessary] received.
- HLOP (owered Pallet Truck): ideally proficiency-level.
- MEWP (Mobile Elevating Work Platform) or VNA (Very Narrow Aisle) certifications.
