Roles Purpose and Key Responsibilities

We are currently recruiting several Investigation Specialists to support the continued development and capacity of our regulatory investigations team.

As an Investigation Specialist, you will manage regulatory investigations relating to RICS members and regulated firms. Working closely with a Regulatory Investigation Manager, you will analyse complex information, gather and assess evidence, and produce clear, well-reasoned decisions in line with RICS Professional Standards, Rules of Conduct and Bye Laws.

Through your work you will contribute directly to maintaining professional standards across the global surveying profession. You will work closely with colleagues across the regulatory function and engage with members, firms and stakeholders to ensure investigations are conducted fairly, transparently and in the public interest.

In this role, you’ll:

  • Manage a caseload of regulatory investigations relating to RICS regulated members and firms and make sure cases are progressed and concluded within KPI’s and quality standards.
  • Review and analyse information about RICS regulated members and firms, gather evidence and assess potential breaches of professional standards
  • Produce first class written documentation, including; investigation reports, requests for information, closure letters, allegation letters and witness statements.
  • Prepare bundles of evidence and reports for Head of Regulation.
  • Make robust decisions in the public interest demonstrating sound judgment, a balanced and fair view, supported by reasoned arguments.
  • Communicate professionally with members, firms and other stakeholders throughout the investigation process
  • Help ensure investigations are progressed efficiently and in line with regulatory standards
  • Maintain accurate case records using case management systems
  • Work closely with colleagues across the regulatory team to support consistent and effective investigations

This role operates under RICS’ hybrid working model, with colleagues working 60% of their time in the office and 40% remotely.

About You

You’ll bring experience working within a regulatory, investigation or complaint-handling environment, and be comfortable assessing complex information and progressing casework.

You’ll be someone who can apply sound judgement, communicate clearly and manage competing priorities while maintaining high professional standards.

We’re particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate experience in several of the following areas:

  • Managing investigative casework and effectively progressing a caseload of regulatory or complaint investigations.
  • Analysing complex information and assessing evidence objectively to reach sound conclusions
  • Producing clear, well-structured reports, decisions or formal documentation
  • Communicating effectively with a range of stakeholders, including when dealing with sensitive or challenging issues
  • Working collaboratively within a team and contributing to a positive and accountable working environment
  • Experience of influencing and constructively challenging internal and external stakeholders.
  • Applying sound judgement and a balanced approach when making casework decisions
  • Using case management systems and standard office tools to manage case records, evidence and documentation
  • Demonstrable track record of embracing feedback and changing and adapting behaviours and/or style to increase effectiveness.

It would also be helpful if you have:

  • An understanding of the principles of better regulation
  • Experience working within a professional body, regulatory, legal or disciplinary environment
  • Experience preparing case materials for regulatory or disciplinary decision-making
