Role Description

We are hiring an Associate with a top-tier investment banking background to serve as the analytical and diligence backbone of the YXS investment process. This is not a relationship role — it is a high-output, high-precision execution role for someone who thrives in the work itself. You will be the person every deal runs through. When an opportunity clears the sourcing filter, you own the financial rigor that determines whether we move. You will work directly alongside the Managing Partners and sit at the center of our IC process on every transaction. This role is designed for someone who has spent 2–5 years in a top-rated technology investment banking program, understands what institutional-quality diligence looks like, and is ready to apply that standard in a faster, higher-conviction environment.

Responsibilities

  • Financial Modeling: Build and own financial models for every active deal — revenue build-ups, unit economics, exit scenarios, sensitivity analysis, and fund-level return attribution.
  • Deal Due Diligence: Lead structured diligence across financials, customer validation, technology review, legal analysis, competitive positioning, and cap table. Own the verification process end-to-end.
  • Investment Memos: Draft detailed IC memos that synthesize quantitative analysis, market context, risk factors, and return scenarios. Quality and precision are non-negotiable.
  • Market Research: Conduct sector research, comparable transaction analysis, and valuation benchmarking to support entry pricing discipline and exit pathway mapping.
  • Portfolio Monitoring: Track portfolio company performance metrics, prepare quarterly LP reporting inputs, and flag material developments across the portfolio for Managing Partner review.
  • Process & Infrastructure: Maintain deal pipeline systems, diligence trackers, and data room organization. Help build the operational infrastructure of a scaling institutional platform.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

What We're Looking For

  • Proven Financial Expertise: 2–5 years at a top-tier technology investment banking program — bulge bracket or elite boutique (Goldman, Morgan Stanley, Lazard, Evercore, Qatalyst, or equivalent).
  • Exceptional Financial Modeling: You build models from scratch, under pressure, without supervision. You can stress-test assumptions and defend your work in front of a room of senior executives.
  • Institutional Diligence Discipline: You know what it means to verify a number, not just report it. You've caught things others missed and understand why that matters.
  • Interest in Venture Capital: You find early-stage companies intellectually compelling and want to develop investment judgment over time, with the ability to lead deals and influence investments.
  • Ownership Mindset: You manage your own workload, hit deadlines without being chased, and operate with an ownership mentality in everything you touch.
