Investment Banking Analyst (Analyst 2) – FIG M&A, London

Corporate Finance – Mergers and Acquisitions

Our client is a UK investment banking boutique, specialising in FIG (Financial Institution Group – M&A), specifically focusing on asset and wealth management. The firm is highly respected in the city with a proven track record, boasting Partners previously from US Bulge Bracket banks, Elite Boutiques, and Global Independents.

Opportunity Overview

A leading boutique firm based in London is actively seeking to hire an Analyst (Ideally Analyst 2 or Analyst 3 level) to join their expanding M&A team.

Role Summary

The ideal candidate will have:

  • At least 12 months of M&A experience (preferably in FIG or asset/wealth management, though sector experience is not mandatory). -Act at the forefront of high-impact M&A transactions, delivering financial analysis, client relationships, and transaction execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute across end-to-end M&A transactions in asset and wealth management, including:
    • Financial analysis & modelling
    • Due diligence
    • Valuation & deal structuring
  • Drive client-facing strategy through insightful financial recommendations.
  • Conduct industry research & market analysis to pinpoint acquisition opportunities.
  • Execute deal monitoring (tracking trends, regulatory changes, and competitive updates in financial services).
  • Collaborate with legal, compliance, and tax teams to ensure smooth deal execution.
  • Coordinate stakeholders to align on transaction objectives and timelines.
  • Strengthen client-year relationships, acting as a trusted strategic advisor.
  • Deliver high-quality reporting, presentations, and materials to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Articulate complex financial information clearly to diverse audiences (clients, regulators, investors).

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, or related field (required).
  • Successful M&A transaction experience (FIG sector experience a plus, but not mandatory).
  • Strong proficiency in advanced Excel modelling and valuation techniques.
  • Exceptional communication & storytelling skills (explaining nuanced financial concepts in user-friendly terms).
  • Fast-paced, deadline-driven workplace experience, with a team-oriented mindset.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with integrity and discretion.
