I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

You’ll have the opportunity to gain exposure across a broad range of healthcare areas, including pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medtech, healthcare services, diagnostics and healthcare technology. The role is designed to help you build a strong foundation in healthcare investment banking while developing your understanding of the sector and its key themes.

Your expertise

  • Some hands-on exposure to investment banking, M&A, ECM or related corporate finance work, gained through a relevant internship or full-time experience
  • Experience in a healthcare-focused advisory environment would be a strong plus, but is not required; what matters is a genuine interest in the healthcare sector
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, ideally in finance, accounting, economics, business, science, engineering or another analytical discipline
  • Solid financial analysis, valuation and modelling skills, with exposure to merger analysis and other transaction-related analysis, and the ability to produce accurate, high-quality presentation materials
  • Intellectually curious, with an interest in understanding sector trends, company strategy and market developments
  • Driven, collaborative and creative, with strong integrity. Strong communication skills, attention to detail and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment
