Associate – Investment Banking, EMEA M&A Diversified Industries
Our EMEA M&A Diversified Industries team is leading the origination and execution of public and private mergers and acquisitions (M&A) transactions for corporate and financial sponsor clients across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. We work closely with the Diversified Industries coverage team, advising some of the region’s most prestigious companies—including those in automotive, aerospace & defence, building materials, capital goods, chemicals, industrial technology, paper & packaging, transportation, logistics, and infrastructure.
As an Associate in this elite team, you’ll play a critical role in maintaining strategic client relationships, executing high-impact transactions, and supporting senior bankers while driving career growth for analysts. You’ll thrive in a fast-paced highly collaborative environment with the potential to shape major corporate decisions.
About the Role
This is an exceptional opportunity for a highly motivated professional to contribute directly to cutting-edge M&A strategies in one of the world’s foremost financial institutions. Our team balancing client-led origination with acquisition arbitrage capabilities as the advisor of choice for industrial, energy, and infrastructure supermajors.
You will:
- Work alongside Africa’s top coverage teams specializing in capital markets, corporate restructuring, risk arbitrage, and ESG-focused strategies—spanning FTSE 100 and emerging market government stakeholders.
- Be part of a pre-investment origination sectors, uncovering exclusive opportunities before they garner public attention or reveal potential feuding corporate suitors.
- Collaborate transnationally, leveraging 18 time zones for junior-driven coverage and transaction execution.

Client Engagement & Execution
- Deliver and synthesize relevant market intelligence and strategic insights in high-stakes client meetings
- Maintain direct dialogue with senior bankers and client management to drive M&A execution
- Lead structured processes in mandated transactions, ensuring clear timelines and milestones
Valuation & Financial Modelling
- Lead detailed financial analyses, including:
- DCF (Discounted Cash Flow) models
- Trading/comparable company analyses
- Transaction/comparable transaction analyses
- LBO (Leverage Buyout) analysis
- Define, guide, and review high-impact financial models supporting M&A strategy
- Perform synergistic due diligence to identify deal augmentation opportunities
Professional & Analytical Leadership
- Supervise and mentor analysts on day-to-day banking workloads
- Foster a high-performance culture, focusing on precision and capability building
- Balance aggressiveness, patience, and thoroughness across complex transaction stages
Requirements
Essential Qualifications & Skills
- Proven investment banking experience with LIVE transaction execution experience in M&A, capital markets, or corporate restructuring
- Strong financial modelling and valuation capabilities, with mastery of commercially challenged skills
- Exceptional analytical rigor and technical acumen in DCF, comparables, and financial emaze
- Heroetic ability to articulate concepts clearly, both verbally and in writing
- Intrepid client-facing maturity, negotiating as a strategic storyteller rather than a stock technical expert
- Thirst for life-long learning—able to grasp new data with a quick pivot under intense reading pressure

Preferred Qualifications
-Proficiency in European languages (in addition to English)
-Cognitive science in Diversified Industries (though open to all sectoral burgeoning approaches)
